18 Days Till Departure

This trip is approaching far too quickly! My coursework didn't end until the end of April, and I presented at an archaeological conference immediately afterward. Since then, I've been working in the lab several hours a week either inputting data or sorting stone tools. There is certainly a lot to do before our research team can leave. So far I have:

- Been immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, typhoid, hepatitis A, yellow fever, tetanus, diphtheria, and polio
- Filled a prescription for 80 anti-malarial pills
- Acquired 5 bottles of SPF 60 sunscreen

In short, I've made moderate progress towards surviving in Africa. I probably should have read more articles. Fortunately for me, this research project grew out of my undergraduate honours thesis so I've been thinking about this topic for about 3 years. Still, archaeological research is a funny thing: you can never quite predict what you'll find. Please pango, give me data with which to write a thesis! For now, 18 days left of friends, family, and television.
